Ephedra is a solo project by Alexandre Cohen, a Belgian artist born in Brussels. His musical journey began in 1998 when he discovered electronic music. He gradually started experimenting with DJing and occasionally performed at small student parties. After a few years, he discovered the psychedelic world of Goatrance/psytrance at a festival in Belgium. It was a real eye-opener that would indelibly define his future artistic direction. Alex then began playing at small Belgian Goa events, mainly focused on the « Old School » scene, which is very active in Belgium. It was also during this time that he took his first steps into production. In 2006, he founded the Goa Madness association with three other friends (which later became the Goa Madness Records label). His first official release, « Acid Rain, » came out on the UAF Records label in 2011, followed by numerous others on labels such as Sita Records, Timewarp Records, Ovnimoon Records, Suntrip Records, Global Sect Music, and of course, Goa Madness Records. Ephedra has had the opportunity to perform in many countries, including Brazil, Japan, Israel, Serbia, Lebanon, Croatia, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, and France. His style is heavily influenced by 90s Goatrance with a modern twist, blending ethereal melodies and acid sounds.
