DJ set
Stephane Gallay aka Tajmahal started his music career in 1995 as a label DJ with the legendary TRANS’PACT label in France and as a co-writer with « ASIA 2001 ».
This collaboration resulted in 4 albums, on each of which Tajmahal contributed 3 or 4 tracks. During this period, he was the official label DJ for Trans’Pact and the Asia 2001 band.
After leaving ASIA 2001 in 1998, he started his own career, organising trance parties in Lyon, France and also became label DJ for Chaos Unlimited (UK).
At Chaos Unlimited he worked in an A&R role and also created compilations.
These experiences drove him to create his own label and so « Electrik Dream » was born in 2005 with him as label manager.
These days Tajmahal divides his time between chillout psychill downtempo projects and progressive psy morning goa trance.
He is currently working with Alba on a new project called « Medicine Men Song ».
They are preparing a double-sided project: one side will be for the opening stages on a main floor with a real Ethnic Tribal Goa Psy Trance live set. The second live act is dedicated to the alternative and chill out stage; look out for their music in the festival season next summer.
The last years have been productive for him: he and his friend Kurtz Mindfields released a tribute album to the Berlin School period for all analogue synth lovers called Analogic Touch – From Berlin School to Electronica Ambient.
He is also working on a Chill Out Ethnic project « UASCA » in collaboration with his friend Fluxo from Portugal…
Uasca is a tribal ambient / downtempo project featuring spiritual chants from Peruvian ayahuasca priests, which were collected on site by Tajmahal when he visited them in October 2009 and March 2012.
Uasca is a tribute to the ancient tribal knowledge of the Amazon.
They started working on their debut album « COSMOS UMBILICAL » in early 2009 and released it in May 2018. 9 years of love in one album.
Taj is becoming well known for his long ambient uptempo psychill dj sets.
His style is fluid and deep: his music tells the story of his feelings.
As a DJ, he combines impeccable technical skills with a broad, eclectic musical knowledge and immense creativity : he is famous for telling a story and taking the crowd every step of the way to enlightenment.
These days DJ Tajmahal he’s happy to come and play some Retro Goa music DJ set as he has the secret. He also plays some ASIA 2001 retro set as a tribute as an ex-member of this mythical band.
